"You're seriously not going to like how cliche this sounds."

Summary: (I'm not putting a summary in for this chapter because it's the final and you should just read how it ends yourself. :D)
This is the sequel to Dragon's Dream (Dragon!Norway x Reader #6).
Author's note: The last chapter is finally here! I hope you guys loved this story as much as I loved writing it. This chapter is really long, just as a warning, and really detailed, and a lot of information gets thrown at you including explanations and a few tiny details. I hope the ending doesn't seem too anticlimactic!!! Personally, I don't know how to feel about the ending, it wasn't perfect, I'll just say that. I may redo it someday. Oh wells. Right, and this story features a pretty-much-completely-skimmed-over kiss scene, whoohoo!

:iconstardivider1plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider3plz:

Ice cubes swirled in your glass of water as you peered over the tumbler held to your lips and into the navy eyes of the dragon in front of you. You and Lukas had "accidentally" left the hotel before the two of you could order breakfast, so the dragon had pulled you into the nearest cafe, shoved you into a booth, and somehow managed to bunch his large frame up enough to fit in the seat across from you. He didn't look particularly comfortable lying in the booth with one wing half-open and splayed across the table, the other bent at an odd angle and wedged between his body and the back of the chair, his back arched like a spooked cat's, and his tail wrapped around the leg of the table to help him keep his balance.

The dragon had been acting oddly since your conversation at the hotel. Although his face remained neutral, you detected a haze of disorientation in his eyes, and he seemed to be elsewhere. Normally, he was the most well-put-together person you had ever met, so it was unsettling to see him behaving this way. After all, he never just "forgot" to order breakfast -- yesterday he had intended to skip the meal to get more work done, but that had been deliberate, not the result of a fluke on his part.

Wait a minute -- did I actually call him a person? You realized then that you did indeed see the dragon as a person. Lukas may have been many things, -- mysterious, annoying, emotionless, and pretty oblivious to other people's emotions -- but there was something about the way he behaved that struck you as undeniably human. Perhaps it was because he no longer threatened you, or perhaps it was because of his eccentricity. Either way, you could definitely tell that he was not just an ordinary dragon to you.

"Excuse me, love, would you like to order something?" Realizing you had been spacing out while staring at Lukas, you shifted your gaze toward the green-eyed waiter who was standing beside your table.

"Uh, yeah, sure," you replied, once again redirecting your attention to Lukas to ask if he wanted something to order.

"Black coffee with butter and a biscuit on the side," the dragon said without batting an eye.

"Ma'am? What are you staring at?" The waiter asked you. So he can't see Lukas?

"Oh, nothing. Sorry, I was just thinking. Anyways, I'd like to order coffee with butter and a biscuit on the side for my friend, and then some (drink) and (food) for myself."

"Your friend...?"

"U-um...he's in the bathroom right now."

"Oh. Alright then, love. I'll be back with your order in a moment."

Once you were sure that the waiter was gone and nobody was looking at you, you turned toward the dragon. "Lukas, how in the world did you manage to get us a hotel room if nobody can see you?

"I used my magic to force the hotel manager into giving us free service for a week."

...

"Lukas, isn't that stealing?"

"No."

You were pretty sure it was stealing if you were using magic to make people give you things that normally you'd have paid for, but you bit your tongue, deciding that if you accused the dragon of stealing it would cause a fuss and draw attention. Instead, you shifted your gaze toward the clean windows of the cafe, gazing at the people who walked by. There was a lot of diversity, yet the streets were surprisingly empty compared to the day prior, where people were bustling around everywhere. Now, there was significantly less crowding.

Just as you were about to ask Lukas why he thought so many people were vacant, the waiter arrived with your dishes.

"Ah, is your friend not back yet?" He asked as he set the last of the platers on the table.

"Oh, no, he's not," you replied, the lie causing your cheeks to flush just a little. Lying had never been your strongest suit.

The man paused for a minute, his green eyes glazed over as though he was deeply thinking about something. He then gave you a knowing smile.

"Oh, I see. Your friend's a magical creature, isn't he?" He prompted.

"How'd you guess?" You asked, thoroughly startled that this strange waiter had figured it out so easily.

"When I was very little, my mother gave me faery and unicorn blood so that I could see the magical creatures wandering around the lovely garden her and my father had planted before I was born." His eyes grew wistful. "I befriended all of the creatures that lived there, and since then they have taken a habit to finding spare blood to give to me. My dream is to someday be able to see all of the magical creatures in existence. Sadly, though, the only way you can do that is if you become a magical creature yourself, it seems. There are millions of magical creatures out there, but in some of their cultures, it is a sign of submission to give blood away to humans, and is thus considered a crime."

"Oh, wow, I had no idea..." You trailed off.

The man smiled reassuringly. "No, don't worry; you don't need to see all of them to appreciate the ones you can see, after all! So, what kind of a creature do you have as a friend?"

You shifted your gaze back to Lukas, who was sipping his coffee and looking out toward the window. "He's a dragon," you replied after a while.

When you looked back at the server, his eyes clouded with confusion. "I'm sorry, but that can't be right, poppet. I've been given dragon's blood before. I'd be able to see him if he was a dragon. I've seen hundreds before."

Surprised, you whipped your head toward Lukas, your eyes wide. "Wait, Lukas, what does he mean that he's had dragon's blood before but can't see you?!"

The dragon didn't respond for a while, he just continued to sip his coffee. Putting it back on the table, he looked you straight in the eye. "It's time to go," he said in a no-nonsense tone, sliding out of the booth and slinging you onto his back.

"Lukas, wait!" You shouted, struggling to get off of him, though he used his tail to hold you in place. The server watched the scene with wide eyes, unable to do anything as you were dragged out of the cafe.

You didn't even get to pay the check.

:iconstardivider1plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider3plz:

Instead of taking you into another bookstore like you had expected him to do, Lukas stepped onto the street, took a few running steps, and lifted himself into the air. City buildings whizzed past you as you clung to the dragon's neck for dear life.

"Lukas!" You shouted over the wind whistling through your ears. "Where are we going?!"

The dragon didn't reply, which startled you. You began to have doubts about your earlier thoughts. Maybe he really is more dragon than human after all, you thought as he carried you further and further away from City. But if he's a dragon, then how come Arthur can't see him?

What are you, Lukas, and where are you taking me? Why?

You watched as City was slowly eaten up by the horizon as Lukas flew east, toward the morning sun. As he seemed to near his destination, he gradually began to dip lower and lower in flight, until he was close enough to the snow-capped sea of trees below that you could reach a hand out and touch some of the highest branches if you wanted to. City had been surprisingly warm judging by its location, and you briefly wondered if it was because of spells wizards cast before you remembered that you were supposed to be worrying about where you were being taken to.

A clearing became visible through the trees, and Lukas dipped toward it, landing softly along the grass and flowers and allowing you to slide off of him. For a moment, the two of you were silent, you uncertain as to what to say or do, and the dragon seeming to be immobile. After a few seconds, though, Lukas spun his neck around so that his piercing blue gaze was locked on yours.

"Are you my friend, (y/n)?"

You were shocked for a minute. Am I his friend? You thought to yourself. He's been acting awful to me all day. He keeps secrets from me, and he doesn't answer my questions directly.

And yet, this strange dragon with his strange love of reading and his strange way of drinking coffee had never hurt you before. He had made you feel scared, or uncomfortable, or angry, but he had never made you feel pain. It was then that you decided.

"Yes."

The dragon blinked, as though he had been expecting rejection, and then continued to stare at you. Then, from his lips the explanations you had been waiting for for days came pouring out.

"The reason why I was not visible to Arthur was because I am, in fact, not a mere dragon," he said. "I am not a mere dragon because of a curse that was laid upon myself and three other people. Those three other people were my Knight, -- he's like a bodyguard -- my Archer, -- he's also like a bodyguard, but he's stationed in a hidden position -- and my brother. My brother angered a group of people during one of his political campaigns by paying more attention to one group of people than the other instead of being impartial, and it was misinterpreted as an act of corruption from all of the family; as a result, when we were wandering alone one night, having a snowball fight, we were attacked by a small band of pretty powerful wizards who locked my brother and bodyguards into a house and turned me into a dragon. I couldn't enter the house no matter how hard I tried, and they slowly began to starve.

"No matter what I try to do, I can't unlock the house. The wizards made sure that no matter what, they'd be unable to escape. I've been magically transporting food and supplies into the home once a week, but it hasn't been enough. They spend all of their days cooped up inside of one building, and they can't open the windows for fresh air. It's taking its tole on them, I can feel it. Eventually, I began to give up hope, so I decided to find a cave and live out the rest of my existence in solitude, with nobody but my troll and faery -- yes, I have troll and faery friends like the waiter you met at the cafe has -- to talk to. However, then you showed up and reminded me that there was still hope."

All was silent for a moment. A lot of what Lukas had told you made sense, but you decided that you needed to piece a few extra things together. "Lukas, how come I can see you? And why do you have guards?"

"When any professional wizard casts a spell, they make sure that there's a way out of it. They made the process of my turning into a dragon gradual, so that I could take me time to find someone to help me undo the spell. All I had to do was give someone my blood, and then they'd be able to see me in the future as a dragon. And the reason I have...or, had...guards was because I was the Prince in the story."

You weren't entirely surprised that Lukas was the Prince in his story when you remembered how touchy the subject had been. "How long have you been a dragon for?"

"The process was completed 10 years ago."

"So you were the man who gave me the vial?"

"Yes."

"Why did you pick me?"

"I picked you because you were young, so I would have more time if it was needed. If I had chosen you as an adult, you may have had more responsibilities than you do now that would have made this difficult."

Now that everything was falling into place, you only had one more question to ask. "How can I help you get your brother and guards back?"

The dragon froze, and he then turned his head away from you. "You're seriously not going to like how cliche this sounds," he muttered.

"Why?"

"I need a kiss."

...

"Whaaaaaaaaaat?!" You yelled, shocked. "B-but you're a reptile and you have scales! How would that even work?! Your face is like five times bigger than mine, and I don't even know if you have lips or not!"

Lukas then did the strangest thing. He started laughing. His entire body shook with mirth as tears began to spring to his eyes. You were absolutely stunned.

"Y-you...you idiot!" He roared between his laughs. "Y-you...you actually believed that?! O-of course they w-wouldn't be that cliche!"

"Lukas, after how you've been acting these past few days, I don't think I even know who you are anymore," you said, appalled by his sudden change in demeanor. As his laughter died down, Lukas turned to you again, his face turning to stone once more.

"I know. I'm sorry I've been showing so much emotion lately. It's because of my...dragon instincts, I suppose. This time of year is when dragons begin to..socialize...so usually their hormones cause their emotions to become messed up."

"I did not need to know that, Lukas," you said, flicking his nose with one finger. "But thanks for the explanation anyways, I'm sure I can use it in the future. Now c'mon, hurry up and tell me the real way to save your friends so that they don't end up dying of isolation."

"It's not that complicated, actually. All you have to do is open the front door to the house."

...

"Wait, that's it?!" You asked, startled.

"Yes," Lukas said.

"How come you didn't just take me there when I first met you, or just pulled some random stranger off the street, gave them your blood, had them open the door, and sent them on their merry way?"

"The spell required for me to be close with the person who opened the door. The wizards knew that I was not good with intimate relationships, so they decided that since I would be the one to take the longest to manage to convince someone to befriend me, I would be the best one for the job."

Sliding onto his back and gesturing for the dragon to take you to the house, -- he took off once you were situated -- you asked, "But why would the wizards make that the way to undo the spell? Couldn't they choose something more difficult and long-lasting? And how come the King has ruled for so long if it wasn't because you two were cursed?"

"The wizards' intention was not to dethrone the King, it was simply to make my brother regret his actions -- to make a statement. And that's because only the oldest heir can become King, and I was so picky that I never found a suitable (Queen/King)."

"Oh," you replied simply. It felt weird no longer having questions to ask about Lukas. You were left to let the information sink in for the rest of the flight, and after a while the dragon began to descend.

:iconstardivider1plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider2plz::iconstardivider3plz:

You weren't sure what you were expecting the house to look like, but were surprised when you set eyes upon it. It was a pretty nice-looking place to live in; it was a two-story, its exterior was a clean white, there was a brick chimney poking out from the roof, and there was a rather nice-looking porch. The only thing strange about the house was the absence of windows. Where windows would be, there were rectangular plaster sculptures that poked out a few centimeters from the sides of the house, intricate designs etched across their features. In general, it seemed like a queer collage of different architectural styles.

As you looked around, you realized that the house was completely out of place amongst the trees that surrounded it. Lukas and his brothers must have been having a snowball fight in the snow...

"Sooooo, Lukas..." You began. "I just walk up to the front porch, open the door, and then everything magically gets back to normal?"

"Pretty much."

Taking a shaky breath, you steeled your nerves and decided to walk up to the front porch. Knowing that there was nothing to be afraid of did not undo the knot of apprehension that decided to tie itself around your gut. Climbing up the steps, you walked up to the door and stretched your hand out to the handle. You turned it and slowly pulled the door open, and watched as nothing happened.

You weren't sure what you were expecting, whether it be for Lukas's friends to come pouring out of it, for the house to magically disappear, or for a sudden curse to be lain upon you and everything to wind up having been a trap. You paused for a minute, and decided to turn around to face Lukas. What you saw was both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, and you drew in a breath.

Standing amongst the trees that littered the front of the house was a man dressed in wizard's garbs, -- the same garbs you had seen in your dreams (or was it a memory?) all those years ago -- taking tentative steps toward you with an emotionless facial expression. You regretted having missed seeing his facial features, as what you were looking at now was pure beauty. A milky-white, porcelain face, deep navy irises almost-hidden beneath long eyelashes that were so light they were almost invisible, and a head of long, wavy platinum blond hair, half of which was tied back behind a shimmering cross clip. You did not notice that you were staring until Lukas cut through your thoughts.

"I know that as a human I looked amazing, but there's no need to continue flattering me with your constant staring."

You couldn't tell whether he was being serious or not, but it brought heat to your cheeks. "S-sorry, Lukas...I-I..."

You cut off, completely unarmed with an excuse, and were grateful when something -- or, rather, someone (who you sidestepped to avoid) -- barreled out from inside of the house and launched himself at Lukas. Caught off guard, Lukas fell backwards into the pile of leaves that littered the forest floor.

"Emil..." Lukas murmured softly, holding the boy close despite the fact that his clothing was probably getting stained with mud from the ground below. Though his back was turned to you, you took note of the head of wavy platinum blond hair that slightly resembled Lukas's, the childish cheeks that were stained bright red -- it surprised you that he was embarrassed for hugging his brother after he probably hadn't seen him in human form for a decade -- and the violet eyes.

Much more slowly, as though neither of them could believe their eyes, two others emerged, both with heads of blond hair, too. The shorter of the two clung tightly to the taller, as though they were afraid that something was going to happen if they left the home, but he seemed to relax a little bit when he saw Emil and Lukas hugging.

You smiled as you watched the four reunite with one another, but you wondered what was going to happen now that everything was back to normal for Lukas. He was going to be very busy with his duties as a Prince, and would probably need to find a girlfriend so he could become King and give his poor father a break. So engrossed in your musings, you hardly noticed when Lukas, who had been explaining how he had freed the three of them, shifted everyone's attention to you, and you weren't exactly prepared for the bear hug that one of his body guards gave you. "Thanks so much for saving us, (y/n)~"

"Oh...uh...no problem, Mister...?"

"No need to be so formal! My name's Tino, and I'm Prince Lukas's Archer! Over there are Berwald, who's a Knight, and Emil, who's Lukas's brother and a Prince!"

The two both murmured greetings and thanked you with a quick handshake rather than Tino's heart-attack-inducing hug.

"What are you going to do now, (y/n)?" Lukas asked, looking at you with an unreadable expression.

"What do you mean?" Came your reply, as you tilted your head slightly.

"Well, you are miles away from home, and you don't have a dragon to take you back."

Wait a minute...!

...

"What do you mean?! You are taking me back home, right?"

Lukas smirked a little bit. "That depends~"

"I thought turning you back into a person was supposed to make you less emotional, not more!"

"Turns out it's the same way with humans as it is dragons~"

"Ew!!!!"

Emil, Tino, and Berwald watched from the sidelines. "Lukas has never acted this way to anyone before. I don't think I've ever seen him smirk like that, either," Tino whispered.

Berwald nodded his agreement. "'T's 'bout t'me h' f'nd s'm'ne. (It's about time he found someone.)"

Tino glanced up at him with startled eyes. "You really think he's interested?"

Emil, who was still watching, piped in. "He doesn't think so, he knows so."

None of them ever knew how in their short conversation Lukas had managed to coerce you into kissing him. All they really needed to see was the action itself to know that the current King wouldn't be King for much longer, and that there would soon be a new Queen ruling over the Wizards of the land, one who would get extremely angry every time someone in the kingdom jokingly accused her of having a reptile fetish.

Epilogue:

Matthias wrote on December 26 @ 12:00 P.M.: where the hell r u and y the hell havent u come home yet?

You glanced down at the text and flinched, realizing that because you'd been celebrating Christmas with your newly-acquired boyfriend-slash-magic-tutor, his Christmas-obsessed Archer, his rather emotional brother, and his intimidating Knight, you had completely forgotten your promise to return home in a week or less.

(y/n) 9:00 P.M.: Uh, our car broke down. Don't worry, we rented a hotel room.

Hopefully he'd buy your excuse for a while until Lukas finally taught you to use a teleportation spell.

Oof, I messed up and accidentally submitted this into the first story (don't ask how), so bear with me as I figure out how to fix everything, eheheh... ^^;

I'd really like to read this story, but I can't find the first chapter anywhere.... Would it be possible for you to upload it again? It really seems like an interesting story, and I'd hate to miss out on it just because the first chapter isn't here anymore for some reason :-)
